Jim Grisham, Co-Founder
I graduated from California State University San Bernardino in 1972 and received my teaching credential the following year. I hold a Lifetime Teaching Credential from the State of California and I am a state-qualified Infant-Toddler and Preschool Teacher. My teaching career has spanned over four decades.
In 1989, I joined my wife, Sylvia, in creating Carlsbad Village Children's Center. Over the ensuing years we have developed a unique program that has led to hundreds of healthy and happy children. We value cultural literacy, the family and community, and the individual uniqueness of each child. I have found that I learn as much from the children as they do from me.
I am the chief cook for Children's Villages. I prepare nutritious, balanced meals with recipes that have been kid-tested over the many years. However, when answering the same question over and again, "Mr. Jim, what are we going to eat?" my response is always, "Snake eyes and caterpillar brains!" I have answered that question the same way for over twenty years. One would think that they would stop asking!
It is indeed my pleasure to welcome you to Children's Villages. We have created a one-of-a-kind environment for your children. We have built a natural playscape to help your children appreciate the beauty of the natural world. I hope that we can enhance your job of parenting by providing you with a safe and nurturing setting where your children will discover the joy in learning.
